Hospitals and laboratories have an increasing demand for phlebotomists. Most seek, and many require, certification from potential employees. With Phlebotomy Certification (CPT), you'll have the credentials needed to set yourself apart from other applicants as you embark on a rewarding health care career. Exceptional Service Career Training Center in Durham, North Carolina, provides adult education classes to prepare for and take the CPT exam at the end of your semester. We'll help you make the transition to a new career.

What Is a Phlebotomist?

Since more employers now require phlebotomy certifications, a CPT improves your marketability in a growing and rewarding field. As a phlebotomy technician, you may draw blood from patients and blood donors. You'll need to explain the blood-drawing procedure to patients and answer their questions. Phlebotomists are expected to perform basic point of care testing, such as checking blood glucose levels. You'll also:

  • Evaluate Patients' Ability To Withstand Procedure
  • Prepare Blood, Urine & Other Specimens for Testing
  • Verify Patient & Donor Identity
  • Maintain Medical Equipment; Needles, Test Tubes & Blood Vials
